Scorcher '1 Of 1' Interview: Past, Present and Future

1.  What’s the first thing you do in the morning, do you have a morning routine? 

No real routine, just wake up when my son jumps on me, take care of him and then get to work. 

2.  Before you started rapping - what did you imagine yourself doing? 

I never really imagined doing anything else, this is what I've always done. I really like football though, so maybe that. 

3. Knowing what you know about the music industry now - what advice would you have given to yourself when you released your first mixtape? 

Just to stay true and real to myself and make good music. You have to work hard, you get out, what you put in.

4. You’ve been around for a long time and seen the development of the grime scene - in your opinion what has been the biggest change? 

The scene has matured now and people are making all types of creative music which is more than capable of charting now and having success in it's own right. We're nowhere near as old as the U.S urban scene, but it's definitely developing and growing over here. 

5. What has been the biggest change in your music/sound since your first mixtape ‘Simply the best’ to now your E.P ‘1 of 1’?

I'd say that my sound has just developed as I've grown as a person. I rap about what happens in my life so my music is on that journey with me. 

6. Your newest song ‘Work Get It’ off ‘1 of 1’ features Wretch 32, Ari & Mercston - How did this collabo come about? 

We're all just real mates and we're always just chatting and supporting each others careers anyway, this is just an extension of that. 

7. The video for Work Get it - is different from your videos, what was the direction of this video? 

When we all meet up, we always have fun and when we all did our fire in the booth on 1xtra people loved the vibe of that and I wanted to capture that in a single / video format. 

8. What can fans expect to hear from the rest of the ‘1 of 1’ E.p? 

1 of 1 is different, it has a variety of records on there which are all 1 of 1 of their own kind. You have to hear it to fully get it ;) 

9. When will ‘1 of 1’ be out? 

1 of 1 is released alongside the B side record of 'Work Get It’ in early August.

10.  Which other artist feature? 

I wanted to concentrate on myself and telling my own stories so we didn't go bonkers with the features but there are a couple of good ones on there ;) 

11. What shows/ gigs / performance can we you can your fans looking forwarding to seeing you at? 

Lots of summer shows abroad and just up and down the country so just try and catch me when you can. All the info is on facebook, twitter and instagram @scorcherslife

Review: Schoolboy Q Concert

Hey Guys,

We were invited to the Schoolboy Q concert last Thursday and we had an amazing time. As Schoolboy Q is still a relatively new artist, I was anxious to see how his stage presence and performance would be.

Many new artist lack their star spark in the early stages of their career and can often give a boring performance. However we can happily say that this was not the case when it came to the man of the year. 

He had the whole crowd jumping, dancing and "turning up" as he put it. He performed some of his most popular songs and my personal favourite "Break The Bank". When Break The Bank came on everybody went wild including Q, he jumped up and we jumped to.

Since the concert I've been searching on YouTube and the internet to find some of his earlier music, I would love to hear the development in his sound. 2014 has been a good year for the rapper, bringing out numerous hits and developing a great name for himself. 

Schoolboy Q will be back in London performing at Wireless Festival, if you get the chance to go and see him I would recommend.

Converse Cons Project London - Pusha T Headlines

Hey Guys,

Yesterday was the launch party of the Converse Cons Project London and we were invited to attend. The Converse Cons Project is Converse's imprint on making the world a better place for today's young and talented.

The project is running for 10 weeks and actually started on May 22nd, numerous workshops, panel discussions and productions classes are taking place as well as Skateboarding sessions. It's nice to see that a trainer brand as well known as Converse cares about unmasking talent. The project has been happening in numerous cities around the world, London was the next stop on the journey.

To headline the party Converse had GOOD Music artist, Pusha T perform and he sure gave us a performance. Pusha T spoke about signing to GOOD Music whilst in Hawaii working on the Cruel Summer album and he performed some of my favourite songs including King Pusha and Hold On.  Pusha is currently on his European tour and I would recommend anyone who can get a ticket to his show to go and see him. Even if you don't know a lot of his songs, his stage presence and energy alone will have you miming the words to his songs without even realising.

Of course Converse didn't only have Pusha T preform they had one of London's best rapping duo acts Krept and Konan grace the stage. I am a fan of Krept and Konan so when they preformed Tell Em Don't Waste My Time I was in my element. Jumping up and down and screaming the lyrics as if I was at Rock concert lol, but who cares! They preformed with high energy and added to the great vibe of the party.

A few famous faces also were floating about the party e.g Kano and Clement Marfo and I'm sure there was a few more hidden stars. It was a really great night full of fun, buzzing energy, free food and liquor.
